Cairo: Libya has taken a significant step towards environmental sustainability with the adoption of the 'Policy Framework for a Green and Circular Economy.' The adoption ceremony took place in Cairo, Egypt, during the 24th Conference of the Parties to the Barcelona Convention (COP24).

According to Libyan News Agency, the Minister of Environment of the Government of National Unity, Ibrahim Al-Arabi, attended the ceremony and emphasized the importance of the framework. He stated that it marks a milestone in embedding sustainable development principles within Libya and bolstering the transition towards a more efficient, resilient, and innovative economy.

The Ministry of Environment elaborated on its official Facebook page that this policy framework is a component of the 'Green Progress' project initiative. This initiative is funded by the European Union and executed by Expertise France, involving eight countries in the southern Mediterranean region.

The Ministry praised the Libyan team's performance, highlighting that Libya was the first among the participating nations to complete its integrated policy framework. This achievement is seen as a testament to Libya's dedication to the global mission of reducing emissions and advancing the sustainable management of natural resources.
