Benghazi: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expressed approval for the House of Representatives' endorsement of the agreement reached at the "mini-meeting." This agreement, signed on August 30, received backing during a session of the Council held in Benghazi, overseen by Speaker Aguila Saleh.

According to Libyan News Agency, the UN mission also praised the joint statement made by 103 MPs, noting that this endorsement marks a considerable step forward. The mission highlighted that the widespread support for the agreement emphasizes the importance of following a consensus-driven path that aims toward conducting national elections.

The mission indicated that the small-group meeting is integral to the broader UN-facilitated political roadmap. By addressing the initial fundamental steps of the political process, it aids in efforts to overcome the existing political impasse.

The mission reiterated its dedication to supporting a Libyan-led and owned political process. This process is intended to resolve the political deadlock, unify and strengthen national institutions, and establish conditions conducive to holding inclusive and credible parliamentary and presidential elections that reflect the aspirations of the Libyan people.
