A meeting was held in Sana'a on Monday, chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammad al-Mutahhar, discussed plans and procedures for developing and localizing pharmaceutical industries.
At the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Trade affirmed the Ministry's readiness to fully cooperate with drug producers to increase production, encourage investments in this aspect, and give the local pharmaceutical product support and priority in the Yemeni market, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, in a way that contributes to the development of the national pharmaceutical industries.
Al-Mutahar touched on the draft of the new investment law and the great investment advantages it provides, pointing out that the law review committee will include representatives of the Yemeni Federation of Drug Producers and the private sector to absorb their observations with the aim of the new law coming out to meet the aspirations of investors and achieve the desired renaissance.
He referred to the successes achieved in the pharmaceutical industries sector by filling a large proportion of the local market's needs with high-quality pharmaceuticals, stressing that the ministry will provide all facilities to export Yemeni medicines to foreign markets through the port of Hodeida.
He pointed out that this meeting comes within the framework of starting procedures for implementing the directives of His Excellency the President, Field Marshal Mahdi al-Mashat, Chairman of the Supreme Political Council, to localize the pharmaceutical industries by providing all aspects of support and assistance to drug manufacturers and overcoming difficulties.
For his part, head of the Yemeni Federation of Pharmaceutical Producers, Dr. Ehsan al-Rabahi, gave an explanation on the status of the pharmaceutical industries, development plans and requirements for the advancement of the pharmaceutical industries in Yemen.
He expressed his thanks to the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for continuous cooperation and positive interaction with the issues and concerns of drug producers, stressing work to develop and strengthen this partnership to upgrade the Yemeni pharmaceutical industries to achieve self-sufficiency.
