Tripoli: The Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity has allocated 70 million dinars to the Ministry of Local Government to compensate citizens affected by the recent fires in the municipality of Al-Asabaa.

According to Libyan News Agency, a committee will be formed by the Minister of Local Government to oversee the compensation process. This initiative will be funded from the miscellaneous item, and the committee is expected to submit periodic reports on its progress through the Minister of Local Government to the Prime Minister.

The city of Al-Asabaa, located 120 km northwest of Tripoli, experienced a series of unexplained fires last week that resulted in the destruction of over 150 homes. The authorities are actively investigating the fires, which have caused widespread concern among residents and resulted in injuries and significant property damage.

Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour has tasked a team from the Public Prosecution and an advisory committee from the Scientific Research Authority, specializing in fire science, to investigate the incidents in the city. The recommendation includes seeking international fire experts to assist in solving the mystery surrounding these events.

Several ministries within the Government of National Unity, including the Ministry of Social Affairs, have mobilized to support the residents of Al-Asabaa. Specialized relief teams have been dispatched to the area to provide necessary assistance to those affected by the fires.
