Vigil denounced burning copies of Holy Qur’an in Bidbada district, Marib

The people of Al-Muthaf area in Bidbada district in Marib province organized a vigil after Friday prayers, to condemn the Swedish authorities' allowing extremists to burn copies of the Holy Qur'an.

The participants in the vigil stressed that the burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an, with the support and blessing of the Swedish government, reflects the extent of those governments’ hostility to Islamic sanctities and symbols.

A statement issued by the vigil considered the crime of burning the Qur’an a provocation to the feelings of two billion Muslims in the world, and a flagrant violation of international covenants, norms, and human rights principles that criminalize infringement of religious symbols and sanctities for all peoples of the world.

The statement praised the Ministry of Industry's decision to boycott all Swedish goods and products, calling on the Islamic peoples to activate the economic and political boycott decision as an effective weapon against countries that support insulting Islamic sanctities.

The statement held the Swedish authorities responsible for the repeated insult to Islamic sanctities, foremost of which is the Holy Qur'an, calling on Islamic countries to take deterrent measures against the perpetrators of such crimes and their supporters.
