Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, praised the initiative of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for the afforestation of the sports facilitates.

The initiative was launched by the GSA in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.

Al Mubarak emphasized that His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa's patronage of the initiative is part of the national initiatives to implement the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and to execute the national campaign for afforestation (Forever Green), aimed at doubling the number of trees in Bahrain, increasing green spaces, and achieving environmental balance. These efforts are part of Bahrain's continuous efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2035 and achieving zero carbon neutrality by 2060.

The minister expressed appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for this important initiative, which creates a healthy sports environment and optimses sports facilities by establishing an ideal environment. He also affirmed the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture's commitment to creating more afforestation initiatives in sports facilities, walkways, and parks, contributing to the citizens and residents’ ability to exercise in an ideal and healthy environment.
