Tripoli: The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences has declared that Saturday, June 21, marks the beginning of summer in Libya, coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

According to Libyan News Agency, the center highlighted on its website that this day features the longest daylight period and the shortest night of the year. Conversely, the Southern Hemisphere experiences the winter solstice on this date.

The center further detailed that the summer solstice was observed astronomically at 4:42 a.m. Libyan time. This year's summer season is set to last 93 days, 15 hours, and 37.2 minutes.

In related developments, the National Center for Meteorology anticipates a significant rise in temperatures above average in Libya's northeastern regions, while the rest of the country, particularly the northwest, is expected to experience relatively moderate temperatures.
