Libya Joins Arab Center for Poverty Eradication

Tunis:Libya has signed the Statute of the Arab Center for Social Policy Studies and Poverty Eradication in Arab Countries. The signing took place on Tuesday and was conducted by Wafaa Al-Kilani, Minister of Social Affairs in the Government of National Unity. This event occurred on the sidelines of the 84th session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers, which was held at the League of Arab States General Secretariat.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Arab Center aims to enhance cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of information, expertise, and experiences among member states. These efforts are intended to advance social policies and address poverty reduction across its various dimensions.

The establishment of the Center was initially welcomed by the Arab League Council at the summit level in 2018. By 2021, the Council had approved the Center at the ministerial level, with Amman, the capital of Jordan, selected as its headquarters.

With this signing, Libya becomes the seventh country to join the Center's Statute. The other countries include Lebanon, which also signed on the same day, as well as Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco.
