ICSS President to QNA: “Sport Integrity Week” a Global Platform to Emphasize Transparency, Governance Standards -2-

Regarding the agenda of the 4th "Sport Integrity Week," Chairman of ICSS and Vice Chairman of SIGA Mohammed Hanzab said that the week will include several high-level discussion sessions on various axes and issues, most notably the sustainability challenges and integrity in sports, law and integrity in sports, multiple ownership of clubs, integrity of sports betting, integrity of electronic sports, governance in sports, and financial transparency.

He added that the week will witness several important events, most notably the (Forum for Integrity in Sports in Latin America), which will be hosted by Sao Paulo FC at the ancient Morumbi Stadium on September 4, sponsored by the Brazilian TV network Globo, with the participation of more than 25 high-level speakers from various sectors, who have confirmed their attendance so far, and there are other participants will be announced in the coming days.

On the sidelines of the forum, a match of integrity will be held at Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, the second largest sports stadium in Brazil, with the participation of football legends led by Brazilian Ronaldo.

He said that the activities will also include the organization of the International Conference on Sports Law, which will be hosted by the Portuguese city of Porto, the SIGA Youth Forum, the Football Integrity Forum, and the Women's Sports Conference, in addition to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the SIGA organization and a Portuguese municipality to enhance joint cooperation in the areas of integrity in sports.

An independent study, to be led by SIGA Latin America, in cooperation with the Sports Committee of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, entitled "The Future of Brazilian Football", will be launched during a special session to be held on September 5, which will pave the way for the start of broad, independent and inclusive consultations, with the participation of the main stakeholders in the sport.

He said that a cooperation agreement will be signed between the two sides that highlight the official launch of the study and aims to develop the integrity system in Brazilian football, which will enhance Brazil's efforts in the areas of combating corruption, especially after it announced its assumption of the rotating presidency of the G20 and Rio de Janeiro's hosting of the G20 summit in 2024.

He expressed his hope that the participants would come up with recommendations that would contribute to the development of legislation and standards to protect sports from all forms of corruption, especially in countries where cases of match-fixing and betting are common, in addition to establishing appropriate mechanisms to combat impunity and ensure accountability in sports corruption cases. and crimes related to integrity in sports.
