HNEC Approves Final Results of Tobruk Municipal Council Elections

Tobruk: The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has approved the final results of the Tobruk Municipal Council elections, which are part of the third group. This approval follows the completion of all legal procedures and the resolution of appeals related to the electoral process.

According to Libyan News Agency, the HNEC outlined that the Tobruk Municipal Council comprises 11 seats. These are distributed between 7 seats allocated to the party-list system and 4 seats to the individual candidate system. This distribution aligns with the approved mechanism for organizing municipal council elections, ensuring representation between the two systems. The Al-Saqr list emerged victorious in the party-list system.

The HNEC confirmed that the approval is effective immediately, urging relevant authorities to undertake the necessary steps for its implementation and to disseminate the decision through available media outlets, consistent with the legal frameworks governing the electoral process.

The approval marks the completion of the municipal council elections within the third group, allowing the elected councils to commence their duties in line with applicable legislation. This development is expected to enhance local governance and activate the role of municipalities in providing services to citizens.
