Guterres Urges Non-Interference for Peaceful Libya

New York: The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has called on countries involved in the Libyan conflict to cease their interference, emphasizing the benefits of a peaceful Libya for all nations. In his message, Guterres highlighted that a stable Libya would be advantageous not only for its citizens but also for international actors.

According to Libyan News Agency, Guterres expressed his views during an interview with Al-Arabiya Channel, which was broadcast on Friday. He urged countries intervening in Libya to reconsider their actions, underscoring that a peaceful Libya would serve everyone’s interests. Guterres emphasized the necessity for Libyans to have the authority to select their leaders without external influence.

The UN Secretary-General further pointed out the importance of those in power understanding that the current situation does not justify the ongoing prolongation of the conflict. He reiterated the need for an environment where Libyans can independently determine their leadership, aiming for a resolution that prioritizes the country’s sovereignty and stability.
