Workshop on Combating Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Concludes at Criminal Research and Training Center

Tripoli: A workshop focused on combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling has successfully concluded at the Criminal Research and Training Center's headquarters. This workshop was organized in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and it targeted 20 prosecutors.

According to Libyan News Agency, the event was attended by experts from the Center's partners and provided a platform to discuss the complexities of migration, migrant smuggling, and human trafficking. The discussions emphasized their links to organized crime and the importance of identifying trafficking victims from both national and international legal perspectives.

The workshop also highlighted the Public Prosecution Authority's crucial role in preventing and protecting against these transnational organized crimes. Participants reviewed strategies to enhance human rights and the rule of law, as well as the Authority's leadership in efforts to dismantle migrant smuggling and human trafficking networks. Additionally, there was a focus on preventing those involved from evading prosecution through international cooperation in criminal matters.
