UN Official Highlights Crucial Role of Libyan Women in Nation’s Development


Tripoli: Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, emphasized the pivotal role Libyan women play in shaping the country’s present and future. She commended their strength, courage, and determination across various sectors in a recent statement.



According to Libyan News Agency, Richardson made these remarks in a tweet commemorating Libyan Women’s National Day, observed annually on April 26th. She reflected on the many inspiring Libyan women she has encountered since her arrival in the country last year. Richardson emphasized that their contributions are evident across communities, institutions, and work environments.



Richardson noted, “Their voices, leadership, and contributions are shaping Libya’s present and its future.” She further highlighted the importance of supporting women’s full participation, stating it is crucial for building a more just, stable, and prosperous Libya.
