UN Mission Alarmed by Halt in Electoral Process Across 11 Libyan Municipalities

Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has raised concerns about the recent suspension of the electoral process in 11 municipalities across the country. This development was discussed in a meeting involving Stephanie Khoury, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, and Emad Al-Sayeh, Chairman of the High National Elections Commission.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting aimed to evaluate the ongoing implementation of elections in 62 municipalities within Libya. Khoury emphasized the need for relevant authorities to swiftly address the reasons behind the electoral suspension and to establish conditions conducive to resuming the electoral activities in the affected areas promptly.
