Moscow Reaffirms Support for Libya’s Stability and Development

Moscow: The Russian Federation has expressed its readiness to provide "all possible assistance" to ensure comprehensive and sustainable stability in Libya's military and political landscape, emphasizing its confidence in the Libyan people's capacity to overcome the current phase and rebuild state institutions effectively.

According to Libyan News Agency, this announcement was made by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing at the 10th Eastern Economic Forum. The event coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Libya. Zakharova highlighted the historic ties between the two nations, noting the Soviet Union and Russia's significant contributions to developing Libya's infrastructure, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.

Zakharova also noted the growth in military and technical cooperation between Russia and Libya, mentioning that tens of thousands of Libyans have pursued higher education in Russian universities. She described this shared history as a robust foundation for future cooperation.

Furthermore, Zakharova reiterated Russia's consistent stance on preserving Libya's unity, territorial integrity, and national sovereignty. She assured that Moscow is prepared to support Libya in achieving lasting stability. The Russian leadership remains confident in the Libyan people's ability to rebuild their institutions and embark on a developmental path that aligns with their aspirations.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also affirmed Russia's commitment to enhancing cooperation with Libya across various fields, aiming to serve the interests of both peoples and contribute to stability and security in the Middle East and North Africa.
