Libyan Ministry Condemns Israeli Execution Law for Palestinian Prisoners

Tripoli: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli Knesset’s recent ratification of a law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners. The Ministry regards this legislative move as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which are designed to protect prisoners and ensure their fundamental rights.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry released a statement emphasizing that the ratification of this law is not only a political escalation but also a perilous precedent threatening both international justice and the lives of thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli facilities. This development is seen as undermining international efforts to secure a just and comprehensive peace, potentially leading to further severe human rights violations.

The Ministry has called for immediate international intervention, urging the United Nations and various human rights and humanitarian organizations to apply pressure on Israel to halt these violations. It demands that the Israeli government cease its unilateral and illegal practices against the Palestinian people, ensuring the protection and preservation of the legitimate rights of Palestinian prisoners as per international law.

In its concluding remarks, the Ministry reaffirmed Libya’s steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause, expressing unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people. It emphasized the legitimate and inalienable rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
