Tripoli: Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah met with the Minister of Sports, Fouad Barghash, along with the Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Adel Dhuwair, to discuss the development of the sports sector.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting focused on a plan to support national teams and sports clubs across various sports. The discussions centered around mechanisms to enable these entities to nurture talent and raise competition levels in different sports disciplines.
The plan also includes supporting the participation of national teams, sports federations, and independent athletes in regional and international events. This is aimed at ensuring a well-organized and dignified representation of Libyan sports on the global stage.
The meeting further addressed the activation of school sports activities. These activities are seen as a key avenue for discovering talent and promoting sports among young people, thereby contributing to the establishment of a sustainable sports infrastructure.
Prime Minister Dbeibah highlighted the importance of effectively operating sports facilities, particularly those recently renovated, to ensure their continued use and to enhance operational efficiency in serving athletes and youth. He emphasized the need for these programs to be implemented according to clear priorities, contributing to the development of the sports sector and its presence at regional and international levels.
