Libya and UAE Officials Discuss Resumption of Flights

Tripoli: The Minister of Transport in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, met with Ahmed Taher, the envoy of the Civil Aviation Authority in Dubai, to discuss plans for resuming flights between Libya and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in civil aviation between the two nations.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting, which took place at Mitiga Airport, centered on arrangements for restarting flights from the United Arab Emirates to Libyan airports, including Mitiga, Misrata, and Benghazi. Discussions included technical and security aspects essential for the resumption of regular flights, specifically for Emirates Airlines and Flydubai.

In addition, both parties agreed that a technical delegation from the airlines would visit Libya soon to assess field preparations and set a timeline for when flights could resume. Prior to the meeting, envoy Ahmed Taher toured the airport facilities, receiving detailed briefings from various officials, including the airport's director general and the director of the aviation security office. He acknowledged the efforts to enhance the airport's infrastructure and service quality.

At the end of the meeting, Ahmed Taher honored the Minister of Transport and the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, recognizing their contributions to fostering cooperation between Libya and the UAE in civil aviation and their dedication to improving Libya's air transport system.
