HoR Members Engage in Africa-Europe Parliamentary Dialogue


Midrand: Members of the House of Representatives (HoR), Youssef Al-Fakhri, Saleh Qalma, and Asma Al-Khouja, participated in the joint dialogue session between the Pan-African Parliament and the European Parliament held in Midrand, South Africa.

According to Libyan News Agency, the session was held in cooperation with civil society organizations and a number of European think tanks and human rights centers. The gathering aimed at reviewing the relations between the African Union and the European Union over the past twenty-five years.

These discussions are intended to strengthen the role of stakeholders and ensure that parliamentary involvement in the partnership between the African Union and the European Union serves as an effective channel of communication between the peoples of the two continents. The session focused on the progress made in implementing previous commitments, as well as the ongoing challenges.

Strategic preparations for the upcoming summit were also part of the discussions. Key issues su
ch as peace and security, the green transition, and migration were addressed, with an emphasis on strengthening the parliamentary role, ensuring accountability, expanding inclusive dialogue, and translating high-level commitments into tangible results for the benefit of both continents.
