Istanbul: A tripartite summit commenced in Istanbul, Turkey, bringing together Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The summit focused on regional cooperation, stability, and economic integration within the Mediterranean region.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions underscored the importance of enhancing partnerships in energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, and linking Libya to regional projects. The summit also explored investment in ports, the development of electricity grids, and the support of joint strategic projects aimed at fostering development integration that benefits the people and creates new growth opportunities.

In his address, Prime Minister Dabaiba highlighted Libya's commitment to establishing effective partnerships based on balance and mutual respect, asserting the nation's intent to reclaim its role as a reliable regional partner. He attributed this ambition to the country's improving political and security landscape.

Dabaiba reviewed the Government of National Unity's initiatives in combating smuggling networks and illegal activities. He proposed a quadripartite ministerial meeting with Libya, Turkey, Italy, and Qatar to implement joint projects and unify efforts on priority matters. He noted Qatar's willingness to contribute logistical, humanitarian, and technical support in these areas.

The Prime Minister also mentioned a significant security operation recently launched by the government in Tripoli and other regions. This campaign targets outlaw armed groups that impose influence on state institutions, aiming to restore the state's prestige and establish law-abiding institutions free from external control.

Dabaiba emphasized that dismantling these parallel structures is crucial for the state to assert its authority over its institutions and facilities, facilitating the implementation of national policies on migration and border management.

Concluding his remarks, Dabaiba stated that the Government of National Unity is now in a stronger position to play a balanced and responsible regional role. He noted that the tripartite summit serves as political support for Libya's sovereign path and confirms growing international recognition of its efforts to promote stability and cooperation in the Mediterranean basin.
