Tripoli: The Asian-African Parliamentary Assembly has announced the nomination of Libyan House of Representatives Speaker, Counselor Aguila Saleh, to lead the international parliament. This decision highlights Counselor Saleh’s significant involvement and contributions to fostering parliamentary cooperation on both regional and international fronts, underscoring Libya’s growing influence in these areas.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Assembly conveyed its desire to strengthen its partnership with the Libyan House of Representatives in an official letter, suggesting the organization of an Asian-African parliamentary conference in Libya. This event would be sponsored by the Libyan House of Representatives and feature high-level participation from parliamentary speakers and members from both continents.
The proposal for the conference is the result of extensive consultations among Assembly members, culminating in a consensus to support the nomination of the Libyan Speaker of the House of Representatives. This endorsement acknowledges his experience and vision, which are seen as vital to advancing parliamentary work and enhancing diplomatic engagement.
