Al-Sunni and UN General Assembly President Discuss Security Council Reform

Sanaa:Libya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, held a meeting with the President of the UN General Assembly, Khalilur Rahman, to discuss the African Committee of Ten's (C10) stance on UN Security Council reform and related intergovernmental negotiations.

According to Libyan News Agency, the discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming C10 ministerial meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Tripoli.

During the meeting, Al-Sunni shared on his X account that Khalilur Rahman emphasized the need to intensify efforts to bolster the common African position, which seeks fair representation for Africa on the Security Council. Rahman reiterated his support for these efforts during his tenure.

The UN General Assembly President also expressed interest in attending the forthcoming C10 ministerial meeting in Tripoli, highlighting the event's importance for Africa and the continent's rightful claim to equitable representation on the Security Council.

This meeting was part of Libya's involvement in the C10 group, which is engaged in efforts and negotiations related to the reform of the UN Security Council.
