Tripoli: Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met with the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation to discuss issues related to the security track and developments in the western region.
According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting involved extensive discussions on the security track sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) as part of the structured dialogue. The discussions emphasized the importance of advancing steps to unify the military institution, which is considered a crucial pillar for stability and security in Libya.
The General Staff noted that both parties reviewed recent events on the western coast and explored ways to build a unified military institution. This institution is seen as vital for addressing current challenges and contributing to the stability of the country while protecting state institutions.
