Tokyo: Member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, has engaged in discussions with Ichiro Aisawa, Chairman of the Japan-African Union Parliamentary Friendship Association, focusing on revitalizing economic activities and strengthening cooperation between Libya and Japan.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the Tokyo International Summit on African Development (TICAD 9). Attendees included Member of Parliament Ayman Saif Al-Nasr, Secretary-General of the Association Hideki Makihara, and Yuichiro Fukazawa, the official responsible for the Libyan file in the Japanese House of Representatives.

The discussions centered on the importance of lifting the travel ban on Japanese citizens to spur direct investment and participation in Libya's reconstruction and development initiatives. The meeting also explored potential collaborations in health, investment, and efforts toward peace and national reconciliation, marking these as mutual priorities.

Both parties expressed interest in forming a joint parliamentary committee to strengthen consultation and coordination between their legislative bodies. In closing, Representative Ayman Seif El-Nasr extended an invitation to the association's members to visit Libya to explore various sector opportunities firsthand.
