US Diplomat Highlights Technology as Key to Strengthening Libya-US Ties


Benghazi: The Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy to Libya, Jeremy Berndt, expressed his happiness at visiting the BYTE non-governmental organization in Benghazi and meeting with a number of young Libyans interested in technology and entrepreneurship.



According to Libyan News Agency, Berndt shared his thoughts in a tweet on his X platform page, stating, “I was pleased to visit BYTE and meet inspiring and creative Libyan youth in the technology sector. I was impressed by their entrepreneurial ideas and projects, which reflect a real ambition to build an advanced digital future in Libya.”



The US Charg© d’Affaires emphasized the potential of the technology sector as a promising area for supporting economic development in Libya. He noted that the United States stands as a suitable partner in Libya’s efforts to construct a comprehensive and sustainable digital economy.



BYTE – Benghazi Youth for Technology and Entrepreneurship – is a Libyan organization established to engage Libyan youth in the social and economic development of local communities by enhancing the role of technology and fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.



The organization focuses on building the capacity of Libyan youth, empowering them to lead in technology and entrepreneurship by providing the necessary resources, expertise, technical knowledge, and skills to meet the community’s digital needs and aspirations.



BYTE aims to play a pivotal role in developing the local technology ecosystem. It supports youth in launching projects and innovations within a conducive environment, aiding in the transformation of individual ideas into tangible initiatives.
