Tripoli: The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has expressed support for the Presidential Council's recent establishment of two committees focused on addressing security and human rights issues in the region.According to Libyan News Agency, these newly formed committees consist of key stakeholders and are tasked with strengthening security arrangements to prevent the outbreak of conflict and ensure civilian protection. Additionally, they aim to tackle human rights concerns within detention centers and the issue of arbitrary detention.The UNSMIL has pledged to provide technical support to these committees, ensuring alignment with international standards and the UN mandate in Libya. The mission emphasized the importance of these committees' formation at a time when Libyans are calling for significant reforms and accountable, democratic state institutions.
