Turkish President Meets Palestinian Counterpart, Head of Political Bureau of Hamas

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh who are visiting Turkish capital Ankara.

During the meeting, Turkish President stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among the Palestinian people, outlining that division among Palestinians serves interests of parties that seek to undermine the peace process.

According to a statement issued by Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications following the meeting, Erdogan stressed Turkiye’s rejection to the blockade imposed on Gaza, pointing out that he closely follows up on developments in east Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian President and Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas met, so far, in Ankara on Wednesday prior to meeting with Erdogan, where Abbas and Haniyeh concurred in unifying efforts to counter dangers facing the Palestinian cause.
