Takala Highlights Crucial Role of Elders and Notables in Libya’s Reconciliation Efforts

Tripoli: The Chairman of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, has underscored the significant role that the Councils of Elders and Notables play in national reconciliation efforts and in maintaining Libya's social cohesion. Takala affirmed the Council's commitment to ongoing collaboration and dialogue with these national entities to ensure the country's stability and benefit.

According to Libyan News Agency, this emphasis on collaboration was articulated during a meeting held at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting included a delegation from the Council of Elders and Notables of Bani Walid, as well as High Council of State members Fathallah Al-Sariri and Khaled Al-Khazmi.

The discussions reviewed the past contributions of the Council of Elders and Notables in conflict resolution, mediation, and the promotion of social peace across Libya's various regions. Key topics such as the establishment of governorates, the activation of decentralization, and the Local Administration Law were also on the agenda.

The meeting also explored potential strategies for enhancing cooperation between the Councils of Elders and Notables and the High Council of State. This includes implementing the Supreme Council of State's decision to form a committee tasked with fostering communication with these councils across the regions, aiming to build stronger trust and consultation bridges between Libya's official institutions and its social fabric.
