Tripoli: The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, met with Abdullah Qaderbouh, the Head of the Administrative Control Authority, to discuss the state's general budget for 2025. They examined the challenges and difficulties in implementing public spending under the current economic and financial circumstances, as well as observations noted in the Authority's reports.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting also explored the possibility of initiating early discussions for the 2026 budget. The aim is to prepare a unified general budget in accordance with the budget law. This effort is intended to enhance financial discipline, unify institutional processes related to public finance management, and strengthen financial and administrative oversight mechanisms, including monitoring contracts implemented under applicable legislation.

Additionally, both sides discussed increasing oil production rates and monitoring the performance of the National Oil Corporation. They explored ways to support the corporation in raising production levels to boost oil revenues, given the sector's role as a primary resource and fundamental pillar of the Libyan economy.

The meeting also addressed procedures related to oversight work and emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of oversight bodies. This involves monitoring public spending and ensuring transparency and good management of resources to serve the public interest and preserve public funds.
