Rescue Operation Saves 39 Illegal Immigrants Off Tripoli Coast

Tripoli: The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced the rescue of 39 illegal immigrants from different nationalities who were stranded at sea off the eastern coast of Tripoli.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry detailed in a statement that the rescue mission was executed by the "Wadi Ghan P301" boat. The operation was directly overseen by Major General Al-Bashir Balnour Suleiman, the Director of the General Administration of Coast Guard. The rescued individuals were subsequently transported to the Al-Shaab Port point, which is under the administration's branch in Tripoli.

The Ministry confirmed that appropriate legal procedures were implemented for the immigrants, who were then handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, in line with the jurisdiction's requirements. The statement also mentioned that the Minister of Interior, Major General Imad Mustafa Al-Tarabulsi, had issued directives to enhance naval patrols during the summer months. This move aims to ensure the maritime borders' security and to offer assistance to immigrants facing emergencies at sea.
