Newly Elected Libyan Municipal Officials Sworn In Before Prime Minister Dabaiba

Tripoli: The newly elected mayors and members of municipal councils took the legal oath on Thursday before Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba of the Government of National Unity. The ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, ambassadors, diplomats, and officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Local Government.

According to Libyan News Agency, Prime Minister Dabaiba emphasized in his speech that the successful conduct of the municipal elections demonstrates Libya's capability to fulfill its significant national responsibilities. He highlighted that this success sends a clear message that Libyans are prepared for presidential and parliamentary elections and will not permit any attempts to deny their right to select leaders through the electoral process.

Dabaiba issued a caution against any efforts to obstruct or prevent the elections, asserting that those attempting to disrupt the process bear full responsibility. He stressed that the democratic will of the Libyan people must not be impeded in any way.

He further reiterated that direct elections remain the government's steadfast approach to ending division and achieving national unity.

A total of 298 elected members from 35 municipal councils took the oath of office. These included representatives from municipalities such as Zliten, Qasr Al-Akhyar, Maslata, Al-Qarabulli, Souq Al-Juma, Ain Zara, Abu Salim, Tripoli Center, and several others across the country.
