National Reconciliation Meeting in Zintan Highlights Libya’s Commitment to Internal Dialogue

Zintan: The National Reconciliation Committee meeting held in Zintan has underscored the Libyans' ability to engage in meaningful national dialogue within their own borders. Abdul Salam Nassiya, a member of the House of Representatives, emphasized the significance of the Preparatory Committee for National Reconciliation's gathering in Zintan, highlighting it as a testament to the unity and dialogue potential among Libyans.

According to Libyan News Agency, Nassiya highlighted that the meeting serves as a powerful message to the United Nations and the international community, demonstrating that Libyans are fully capable of leading their national dialogue initiatives within the country itself. He expressed his appreciation to the municipality and people of Zintan for their role in hosting the event, describing the city as a "land of peace" that effectively unites Libyans and remains true to its national purpose.

Nassiya further elaborated on the pride felt in hosting all Libyan parties, regardless of their affiliations, to discuss reconciliation and disagreements. He affirmed the ongoing support for efforts that foster unity and dialogue among Libyans.

The eighth meeting of the Preparatory Committee for National Reconciliation commenced today in Zintan, supported by the African Union, the Presidential Council, and the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). This gathering is a crucial step in the preparations for the comprehensive national reconciliation conference.

In attendance were representatives from the United Nations Mission, the African Union, several ambassadors, and representatives from diplomatic missions and international organizations operating in Libya.
