Tripoli: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity has expressed its approval of the international community's recognition of the Palestinian state. This development is viewed as a significant milestone for the Palestinian people in their pursuit of establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the borders defined on June 4, 1967.
According to Libyan News Agency, the Ministry welcomed the strong political stances taken by various countries, which reflect their solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Ministry highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians, including the repercussions of Israeli actions in Gaza, which have resulted in numerous casualties and the displacement of many. Additionally, the Ministry pointed out the adverse effects of the blockade and starvation policies imposed on Gaza.
The Ministry's statement emphasized that this recognition marks a pivotal advancement toward achieving justice and international legitimacy. It underscores the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, wherein they can realize their aspirations for a society founded on law, justice, and democracy. The Ministry also expressed hopes that this development would contribute to global peace and security in line with United Nations principles and international conventions.
Furthermore, the Ministry urged countries that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine to do so promptly. It called for actions that would bolster the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state, enabling it to engage in diplomatic relations and participate in international forums as an equal member of the international community.
