Tripoli: A parliamentary committee in Libya is collaborating with the Reconstruction Fund to explore mechanisms for ensuring the fair distribution of development projects across the nation. The committee, established through Resolution No. (1) of 2025 by the House of Representatives, convened a meeting with the Management Committee of the Libya Development and Recovery Fund. The discussions centered around the proposed budget and development plan for the period from 2025 to 2027.
According to Libyan News Agency, House of Representatives spokesman Abdullah Blihaq stated that the meeting was attended by the Fund's Director General, Belqasem Haftar, Projects Director, Hatem Al-Aribi, and several members of the parliamentary committee, including Saleh Afhimah, Mabrouk Al-Khattabi, Ali Akshir, Idris Omran, Abdulsalam Nasiya, Jaballah Al-Shaibani, Badr Al-Naheeb, Ayman Saif Al-Nasr, Al-Salihin Abdulnabi, and Al-Mahdi Al-Awar.
MP Saleh Afhimah highlighted that the primary focus of the meeting was to ensure the equitable distribution of development projects across Libya's districts and regions. The aim is to achieve geographic balance and cater to the actual needs of citizens throughout the country.
Afhimah further explained that the development plan presented by the Fund was thoroughly examined, including its budget allocations. He noted that the representatives provided their feedback and suggestions on the project priorities relevant to their respective regions.
The participants stressed that for any development plan to succeed, it must prioritize fair distribution, avoiding centralization or marginalization. This approach is deemed essential for achieving sustainable and comprehensive development nationwide.
