Tripoli: The Libyan government, appointed by the House of Representatives, has expressed its approval of the roadmap presented by UN envoy Hanna Tetteh during a Security Council briefing. A key aspect of this roadmap is the formation of a new, unified executive authority across Libya, which the government sees as essential.

According to Libyan News Agency, the government released a statement on Thursday night emphasizing that this move would facilitate leadership in the next phase and help unify the state's public institutions. This unification is seen as a step towards the completion of both general and municipal elections.

The statement further declared, "The Libyan government renews its steadfast commitment to the demands of the Libyan people and affirms its support for the voice and will of the people calling for the formation of a new, unified executive authority, in order to achieve their aspirations for building a stable state based on the principle of the peaceful transfer of power through free and fair parliamentary and presidential elections."

Additionally, the government expressed its willingness to work collaboratively with national and international entities to protect Libya's supreme interests and maintain its sovereignty and stability.
