Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a four-party meeting yesterday with his Saudi and Turkish counterparts, as well as the US President's Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos. The discussions primarily focused on the situation in Libya, emphasizing the importance of supporting efforts to preserve Libya's unity, respect its sovereignty, advance the political process, and unify Libyan state institutions.
According to Libyan News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khallaf stated that the meeting also involved an in-depth exchange of views on several regional issues, including the Iranian file. The officials discussed the memorandum of understanding reached between the US and Iran and highlighted the need to build upon this step to reduce tensions and enhance security and stability in the region.
Khallaf further noted that the meeting addressed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, particularly focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The officials also discussed the situation in Africa, exploring ways to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination to support security and stability on the continent.
