Cape town: The nominees for the African Energy Week (AEW) 2026 awards have been announced, celebrating the companies, projects, and individuals at the forefront of innovation, investment, and growth within Africa's energy sector. The awards, spanning 12 categories that encompass the entire energy value chain, aim to acknowledge and honor the achievements shaping the continent's energy future.According to African Press Organization, the winners will be revealed during the AEW 2026 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Cape Town on Tuesday, October 13. This prestigious event will bring together ministers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to recognize excellence in areas such as upstream, downstream, gas, power, local content, technology, and corporate leadership.Among the nominees for the African Service Provider of the Year are GeoEnergy Group, recognized for advancing digital transformation through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, and KAESO, praised for expanding indigenous engineering and te chnical services across African markets. In the International Service Provider of the Year category, NOV and Technip Energies are highlighted for their contributions to major energy developments with advanced engineering solutions.The Local Content Champion categories recognize both African and International companies. Seplat Energy and Cabship are noted for their efforts in maintaining local workforce and operations, while TotalEnergies Uganda and NOV are acknowledged for their roles in developing local talent and skills.In the EandP Leader of the Year category, Shell and Renaissance Africa Energy are recognized for significant discoveries and developments in Namibia, Egypt, and Nigeria, reinforcing their exploration leadership. Meanwhile, the Infrastructure Project of the Year nominees highlight transformative projects like the Dangote Refinery and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline.The Deal of the Year category includes Trafigura's $1 billion oil prepayment agreement with the Republic of Gabon and H eirs Energies' acquisition of a stake in Seplat Energy. CSR Project of the Year contenders include Mozambique LNG's flood recovery efforts and Oando Foundation's educational initiatives in Nigeria.The awards also spotlight advances in gas monetization, with nominees such as Levene Energies and Congo LNG driving forward major projects. In technology innovation, companies like TotalEnergies and TGS and Starlink are recognized for their groundbreaking work in optimizing energy operations and seismic data transfer.Finally, the Power Africa Developer category features TotalEnergies and Globeleq for their work in renewable energy projects, underscoring the significant strides being made in expanding Africa's renewable energy landscape.
