Tripoli: The U.S. Embassy in Libya has highlighted the importance of Libya’s role as a co-host in the Flintlock exercise, emphasizing the significance of Libyan security institutions from both the eastern and western regions working collaboratively to enhance and lead regional security cooperation.
According to Libyan News Agency, the embassy stated that the Flintlock exercise marks a critical step toward the establishment of stronger and more unified Libyan military institutions. It also aims to improve regional coordination in addressing shared security challenges. The exercise focuses on advancing areas such as counterterrorism cooperation, border security, professional military development, and enhancing the capabilities of partner forces to operate effectively in complex and high-threat environments.
The two-week Flintlock exercise, inaugurated recently, is AFRICOM’s premier annual multinational special operations training event. Conducted in partnership with Libyan partners, it brings together militar
y entities from North and West Africa, the United States, and Europe. This collaboration seeks to strengthen cooperation, enhance interoperability, and build enduring relationships that support regional stability. The U.S. Embassy reiterated its commitment to assisting the Libyan people in their pursuit of a more secure, stable, and unified future.
