Beirut: Lebanese authorities released Hannibal Muammar Gaddafi from the Internal Security Forces prison on Monday evening, after he had spent ten years in detention.
According to Libyan News Agency, Hannibal Gaddafi's release came after his defense lawyers paid the bail of $893,000. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that following his release, the authorities took Hannibal to the General Directorate of General Security to resolve his legal status, as is the procedure for all detained foreigners.
It was explained that after this procedure, the release order was delivered to the prison warden, and Hannibal was released. The Government of National Unity had announced last Thursday that Lebanese authorities had released Hannibal Muammar Gaddafi and canceled the bail imposed on him. The government expressed its deep appreciation to the President of the Lebanese Republic and the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament for their cooperation and understanding in securing his release.
