TRIPOLI: Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Koury, convened with the Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Izuru Shimmura, to deliberate on the pressing political, security, and economic issues facing Libya and the ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the nation's political process.According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting underscored the importance of UNSMIL's mission in steering Libya towards stability. Both Koury and Shimmura evaluated the current dynamics within the country and discussed strategic steps needed to achieve greater stability and facilitate inclusive elections. Koury took the opportunity to commend Japan for its consistent backing of UNSMIL's initiatives, highlighting Japan's role as a member of the Security Council in supporting these efforts.
