Jeddah Governorate will host the 2nd edition of the Saudi Urolithiasis Conference on October 30, to discuss the latest developments in the field of urolithiasis.The event, organized by the Saudi Endourology and Minimal Invasive Urology Group, will bring together 30 Saudi experts specialized in urolithiasis surgery and 16 lecturers from 12 countries.The hospital's Urology and Endourology consultant and head of Saudi Endourology and MIS Group Dr. Wissam Khaled Kamal said that the two-day conference will discuss about the rapid progress in urolithiasis surgery, and the most prominent scientific and practical developments concerning its treatment.He pointed out that the conference is a unique event in the Middle East, as it reviews the latest studies on urinary tract stones, which have a prevalence rate of between 6.2% and 11.2%.The head of the Urology Department and consultant urologist at King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah Dr. Ayman Al-Sulaimani said that the edition of the Saudi Urolithiasis Conference thi s year will be distinguished by the size of the participation and scientific theses that will be presented, especially in light of the fact that studies have shown an increase in the prevalence of urolithiasis, and that the incidence of kidney stones among the population in the Middle East reaches 25%, a figure that indicates that environmental, nutritional and genetic factors can increase the risk of urolithiasis.Source: Saudi Press Agency
