Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly condemned an Israeli minister's call to build a Jewish synagogue at the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that this statement indicates the occupying forces' intent to aggravate the situation and hinder stability in the region.Albudaiwi categorically rejected and condemned these extremist and provocative remarks, and emphasized the need to respect Muslim holy sites and cease attempts to convert Al-Aqsa Mosque into a Jewish place of worship.He urged the international community to take prompt action and act to halt such infringements, and reaffirmed the GCC states' unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, which is the primary Arab and Muslim concern.He also stressed GCC's endorsement of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.Source: Saudi Press Agency
