Gang Member Detained for Smuggling Hashish into Libya

Tripoli: The investigating authorities of the Public Prosecutor's Office have ordered the detention of a member of a gang involved in deliberately bringing hashish into the country for trafficking purposes. This decisive action aims to dismantle the network responsible for the illegal drug trade.

According to Libyan News Agency, the Public Prosecution reported that the gang smuggled a quantity of hashish concealed within merchandise imported from Morocco. The illicit goods passed through Carthage Airport in Tunisia before reaching Libyan territory. This operation highlights the complex routes and methods employed by drug traffickers in the region.

The Public Prosecutor's Office, through its official Facebook page, revealed that the investigator successfully traced the destination of the contraband, identified the mastermind behind the smuggling operation, and pinpointed a group of individuals who participated in the crime. The suspect has been placed in pretrial detention pending further investigation. Additionally, the Public Prosecutor has issued arrest warrants for the remaining accomplices to ensure a comprehensive crackdown on the drug trafficking network.
