Tripoli: Four Libyan activists who were part of the Steadfastness Flotilla aiming to break the siege on Gaza are set to be released today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity announced the news, indicating that efforts are underway to secure the release of the remaining participants soon.
According to Libyan News Agency, the ministry stated that a special plane has been arranged to facilitate the immediate return of the activists to Libya via the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in collaboration with the Libyan Embassy in Amman. This move follows the interception of the Libyan ship "Omar Al-Mukhtar," which was part of the flotilla.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that since the interception, it has been actively pursuing diplomatic and legal avenues to ensure the safety of the Libyan citizens involved. These efforts are in line with the directives of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, focusing on securing the safe return of the activists to Libya.
A team of international lawyers has been appointed by the ministry to handle the case through recognized legal and humanitarian channels. Meanwhile, the Libyan Embassy in Amman maintains oversight of the situation, coordinating release and deportation plans while staying in regular contact with the Ministry in Tripoli.
The ministry has received reports confirming that all Libyan citizens aboard the intercepted vessel are in good health. They have been assessed by the defense team, ensuring their well-being as part of ongoing oversight by Libyan authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation concluded its statement by affirming Libya's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and self-determination, reiterating its commitment to humanitarian efforts aimed at easing the plight of civilians in Palestine.
