Tripoli: EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, reiterated the European Union's commitment to Libya's stability and unity during a recent celebration of "Europe Day 2026" held in Tripoli. The event, attended by Libyan and international officials, diplomats, and civil society representatives, underscored the EU's role as a reliable partner in Libya's journey towards sovereignty and prosperity.
According to Libyan News Agency, Orlando, along with the Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya, Frederic Petersen, hosted a reception in Tripoli to commemorate the strong partnership between the EU and Libya. The event was graced by Deputy Prime Minister Salem Al-Zadma, ministers, heads of institutions, the Special Representative Hanna Tetteh, as well as mayors and United Nations officials.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Government of National Unity, Minister of State Walid Al-Lafi emphasized the depth of the relationship between the EU and Libya, highlighting the robust spirit of partnership that exists. Orlando reiterated the EU's ongoing commitment to support Libya, driven by a shared vision of stability, unity, and development opportunities.
