Tripoli: China's ambassador to Libya, Ma Xueliang, has asserted that Taiwan is a non-negotiable red line for China, emphasizing that no external forces will be allowed to separate Taiwan from the Chinese nation. The ambassador's statement underscores China's firm stance on the Taiwan issue as an internal matter, integral to the country's core interests.
According to Libyan News Agency, Ambassador Ma Xueliang highlighted that Taiwan's reintegration with mainland China over eight decades ago marks a significant historical achievement for the Chinese people. He noted that Taiwan's return to China was a result of the Chinese victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the conclusion of World War II.
Ambassador Ma stressed that any international attempts to establish "two Chinas" or "one China and one Taiwan" are bound to fail. He pointed out the growing support from multiple countries for the one-China principle, which recognizes Taiwan as part of Chinese territory and opposes separatist movements advocating for Taiwan independence. This international consensus, Ma stated, aligns with global aspirations and the prevailing trends of the times.
Ma Xueliang further referenced international documents such as the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Declaration, the Japanese Surrender Document, and UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, which collectively affirm Taiwan's status as part of China.
In his article, the ambassador described a significant meeting on April 10th between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kuomintang Chairwoman Zheng Liwen. This meeting, the first in a decade between the leaders of the two parties, was pivotal in discussing cross-strait relations and strengthening ties across the Taiwan Strait. President Xi's four-point vision for cross-strait relations, as outlined by Ma, reiterates China's commitment to peaceful development and national reunification.
Ma Xueliang emphasized that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to "one China" and share a national identity. This vision aims to enhance cross-strait exchanges, improve livelihoods, and foster a sense of unity for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The ambassador acknowledged Libya's steadfast adherence to the One China principle, which he described as a critical foundation for mutual political trust. He affirmed China's support for Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity and advocated for a political resolution to the Libyan crisis driven by Libyan leadership.
Concluding his article, Ma Xueliang expressed China's strong partnership with Libya, highlighting the countries' mutual support on issues concerning their core interests. He reiterated China's readiness to strengthen cooperation with Libya across various sectors, aiming for tangible benefits that enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations.
