Tunis: Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, recently convened with GNU Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Juma, and Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ibrahim Dabaiba, at his residence in Tunis. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for enhancing economic relations between Libya and the United States, and to discuss the importance of maintaining the independence and integrity of Libya's key technocratic institutions.According to Libyan News Agency, Berndt emphasized the significance of safeguarding the Central Bank of Libya and other essential institutions during his discussions with the Libyan officials. He highlighted the U.S. support for the mediating role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and underscored the importance of Libyan efforts to bridge divisions and unify national institutions.Berndt also praised the High National Election Commission's (HNEC) effective management of the first round of municipal elections in November. He expressed optimism that these elections could serve as a foundation for future municipal elections and contribute to establishing a credible path for national elections in Libya.
