Tripoli: Presidential Council Head Mohammed al-Manfi emphasized the urgency of unifying Libya's military command, declaring that the current situation demands immediate action.
According to Libyan News Agency, Al-Manfi expressed his concerns over the multiple military representations in Libya, a situation that contrasts with practices in other nations. In a recent tweet on X, he highlighted that this fragmentation poses a significant national responsibility that Libya must address without further delay. He cited the first meeting of the African Chiefs of Staff Conference in Angola as a positive step but reiterated that it was crucial for Libya to act now.
Al-Manfi further advocated for the establishment of a unified national army under a joint, professional, and neutral command that operates under civilian authority. He stressed the importance of the military distancing itself from political influences and focusing its efforts on border protection, safeguarding national resources, combating smuggling, protecting constitutional frameworks, and reinforcing the democratic system and state sovereignty.
