Al-Juwaifi Explores Collaboration with UNDP for Local Development in Libya

Tripoli: The Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity, Abdul Shafie Al-Juwaifi, has engaged in discussions with Sophie Kimkhaddza, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to explore potential areas of collaboration to bolster local development in Libya.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting brought together various stakeholders, including the General Coordinator of the Women Municipal Council Members Forum and a representative from the International Cooperation Office. The discussions focused on cooperation in urban planning, enhancing local revenues, and supporting development projects and initiatives, particularly those targeting women.

The Coordinator of the Women Municipal Council Members Forum highlighted several economic projects that the UNDP aims to implement as part of the Ministry's drive to promote sustainable development. Sophie Kimkhaddza expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the UNDP and the Ministry of Local Government, acknowledging the government's efforts in advancing municipal work and facilitating direct communication between citizens and state institutions.

Kimkhaddza also praised the Ministry's initiatives to enhance the role of women through the Women's Office and related municipal offices, emphasizing the ongoing importance of this cooperation to sustain development efforts throughout Libya.
