Al-Abed and Bin Ghalbon Discuss “Wafed” System Activation to Regulate Labor Market

Tripoli: Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, met with the Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Bin Ghalbon, to discuss the regulation of the labor market in Libya and the activation of the "Wafed" electronic system for managing expatriate workers. This initiative aims to streamline procedures and improve operational mechanisms within the labor sector.

According to Libyan News Agency, the meeting addressed mechanisms for regulating expatriate workers through the activation of the "Wafed" electronic system. This system is expected to ensure improved recruitment and residency procedures, enhance oversight of the labor market, and support integration among relevant authorities by unifying databases.

Moreover, the discussion included the electronic linking of the "Wafed" system with the Passports and Nationality Authority system. The implementation of the electronic visa project, in coordination with the Libyan Telecommunications Holding Company, was also a focal point, as part of efforts to develop digital services and facilitate government procedures.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Passports and Nationality Authority, Major General Youssef Murad, the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Khalifa Shaliq, and several directors from relevant departments at the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation and the Passports and Nationality Authority.
